Welcome to
Bricks vs Blocks
From a handful of mismatched bricks overseas to rediscovering LEGO® through my daughter’s eyes — Bricks vs Blocks is a celebration of creativity, nostalgia, and imagination.
A Childhood Built on Creativity
Growing up overseas, LEGO sets were rare and hard to find. The few I owned became treasures — every piece had to serve ten different purposes.
Without access to instructions, I spent hours flipping through catalogs, studying the pictures of sets I couldn’t get, and reverse-engineering how they were built. I learned to create castles, cars, and spaceships that looked “close enough” using pure imagination.
Looking back, that process shaped how I think today. It taught me to analyze, deconstruct, and rebuild — the same skills I use now in my software development career, where I often reverse-engineer programs and rebuild them from the ground up.
Rediscovering LEGO Through My Daughter
Years later, after the birth of my daughter, I rediscovered that childhood magic. Watching her excitement as she built her first sets reminded me exactly why I fell in love with LEGO — not for the instructions, but for the endless creativity hidden inside every brick.
That spark became Bricks vs Blocks: a place to share reviews, comparisons, and ideas for builders of all ages — and to celebrate the creativity that connects generations.
